We are teaching our baby to count and he will not count past 4. He would go back to counting from 1. This week we sat down for dinner and he was a half stomach hungry from having a late lunch. Normally I don't like to have dinner so early right after his nap, but the food was ready. He wouldn't eat the meat or broccoli, he would only eat potatoes. We made him work for each one: one, two, three, four... Yes folks, our stubborn 21 month kept counting, five, six, seven, eight, nine, TEN! I know, I know, that your toddler probably did this by the time that he was 18 months old, but I am a proud mama!
You have to really want something for you to make the effort of learning a new skill, practice even when it causes you discomfort, all because you want the outcome. Journaling or keeping a record of your kids is like that. Often you have to go out of your way to write down the funny thing they said or pull out your phone to take a picture. But when you read the memory or look back on the picture, there's a magic in having the moment that warms your soul. You're putting in so much work to raise your kids, it's already a new endeavor. A year will go by, two years, and they will grow up and you will be left with the sweet memories of a love that has no comparison.
